This small footbridge is at the bottom of the hill on the road from Bishop Norton to Atterby.

It is a single span bridge, usually described as a clapper bridge, over Atterby Beck and gives access to the fields to Atterby.

The huge stone slab is suitable for use by single line of walkers.

It is considered to be ancient and is listed by English Heritage.

The Wesleyan Methodists built this chapel in 1812 and then sold it to the Free Methodists in 1864.

Methodists of the village came together in 1949 and used the former Primitive Methodist chapel for worship.

The porch on this, the west side, was probably built by Vulliamy in 1836.

This engraving was published by William Miller of Old Bond Street, London, in 1803.

The original sketch by Thomas Espin (1767-1822) was re-drawn by Frederick Nash (1782-1856) and engraved by Bartholomew Howlett (1767-1827).

Both Espin and Howlett were born in Lincolnshire (Howlett in Louth, Espin in Holton cum Beckering).

The Old School, Main Street, Bishop Norton, was built in 1872.

It has an unusual patterned slate roof and tile decoration over one window.

Like many schools at this time the builders paid much attention to details. The bellcote remains intact.

The National School was built here, by subscription, in 1872. It could hold 100 children. It was later known as Bishop Norton and Atterby National School.

The closure of the school was precipitated in June 1945 when it proved to be impossible to recruit sufficient teachers.

The Primitive Methodist Chapel, Main Street, Bishop Norton, built in 1875, became disused in the 1980s' before closing officially in 1993 .

It is believed there was an earlier chapel on the same site, probably from the early to mid 19th century.

The iron-work railings have survived along with the foundation stones and date stone.

This former chapel, erected for the Primitive Methodists, opened in June 1875.

In 1949 the Wesleyan Methodists in the village closed their chapel and joined the 'Prims' to worship here.

The chapel closed in 1993.

The small Georgian church of St Peter was built in 1747. The plastered interior is plain, with 19th century fittings.

The tower has a 12th century carved stone set into its west wall.

Bishop Norton's war memorial takes the form of a lychgate at the churchyard entrance.

The Church Guide states :-

"After the Great War, a lychgate was erected on the southern path as a lasting memorial to 6 men from the Parish who had been killed in Flanders.

The memorial was extended for 3 others who died in World War II.

The churchyard also contains 2 Commonwealth War Graves and another from 1849 for a trooper of the 7th Dragoons"

Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire 1919 states :-

"The church of St. Peter is an edifice of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, south porch and an embattled western tower containing 3 bells:

the interior was rearranged and refitted in 1868, when a new font of Caen stone was presented and an organ purchased by subscription, at a cost of £400:

on the north side of the chancel is a small mortuary chapel and in the tower is an ancient stone coffin of unknown date:

the church was restored in 1892 at an estimated cost of £200:

there are 200 sittings.

The register, including Atterby, dates from the year 1598.

The living is a vicarage, with that of Atterby annexed, joint net yearly value £240, including 207 acres of glebe, with residence, in the gift of the Bishop of Lincoln, and held since 1879 by the Rev. Christopher Harrison R.A. of Clare College, Cambridge, rural dean of Aslackhoe and chaplain of St. Edmund's Spital"

"The instrument was built by T H Nicholson in 1868.

Originally powered by hand, the bellows were converted to electric blowers in 1961.

The organ underwent a major refurbishment in 2008, hopefully setting it up for the next 150 years"
